You're free to talk safely and openly without fear of rejection, criticism or blame. Anything you choose to say to me within sessions remains confidential with the following exceptions:
It's a professional requirement that, from time to time, I discuss my sessions with a colleague who supervises my clinical work. These discussions are always confidential. Anonymity is preserved and the purpose is always to enable me to develop the counselling relationship effectively.
It's also a professional requirement that I entrust contact details to two colleagues so that they are able to let clients know if, for any reason, I am incapacitated.
If, in the course of our work together, it becomes apparent that you may be in danger of harm or of harming others then I might be obliged, by law, to act on this. I'd always discuss this with you first.
